BOOK A CONSULTATION
Residency and Domicile in a UK context from UK tax advisors based in Stafford with specific expertise in UK tax regulations for those with financial interests both in the UK and abroad.

Financial interests in the UK or overseas

If you have financial interests both in and outside of the UK or are planning to invest in the UK in the future, we can provide holistic expert advice and support about the UK tax implications of your specific circumstances. This includes everything from written residency and domicile advice through to non-resident tax returns.

This will include individuals who fall into any of the following categories:
Currently live in the UK but have financial interests overseas
Are in the process of relocating overseas from the UK
Currently live abroad but have financial interests in the UK

Moving internationally

Choosing which country to live in and for how long, can have an impact on the amount of UK tax that needs to be paid.

Whether you are planning to move internationally or live for periods of time in other countries, we can clarify how these moves will impact your UK tax payments:
Our ‘UK Departure Briefing’ service assesses the impact of moving away from the UK on your UK tax bill.
Our ‘UK Arrival Briefing’ service assesses the impact of moving to the UK on your UK tax bill.
Also, if you are unsure about your UK residency status and whether this means you need to pay tax, we can also provide advice on the UK’s 'Statutory Residence Test', which is an assessment used to understand whether individuals are resident in the UK for tax purposes.

What you need to know

Residency and Domicile is an area of particular expertise at LSR Partners. The ‘Statutory Residence Test (SRT)’ was introduced in 2013 in the UK and is used to determine whether and when individuals are resident in the UK for tax purposes. Many people have heard of the ‘183 days’ rule – but the SRT is far more complex than that.

The SRT is also about physical location – we often have clients who want advice on their residency ‘after the fact’…the time to understand and plan your residency status is before the year in question. With up-front planning and attention to detail, it’s possible to plan residency for potentially significant tax benefits.
